Moowon Book - Artisans, Vanishing Arts and Hidden Places

Here's a message to everyone from Lynne Allen:

"The Moowon book listed below looks both beautiful and pertinent to our members. Is there any way we can put out a notice about it and see if anyone is interested in Kickstarting it? I have written to Mona Kim (the creator) and she needs this Kickstarter to be successful in order to continue. I am hoping she will be in the US sometime and able to speak at one of our conferences."

Thanks Lynne for sharing this with us and here's a link to the Moowon Book Kickstarter page!

MOOWON is an artfully crafted online magazine with curated stories focused on vanishing arts, hidden places, and singular people. It exists to transmit their beauty and value. Our stories come from an ecclectic group of international contributors that includes anthropologists, photographers, journalists, field experts and travelers.

Art Quilt Critique Workshop Inspires and Motivates SAQA Texas members

Dr. Sandra Sider, Curator of the Texas Quilt Museum, and a well established juror, author and art quilter, presented a workshop for SAQA Texas members on Sept. 12, 2015.

SAQA Texas members made the trek to the Great Expectations Creativity Center in La Grange, Texas. Sandra explained how color, balance, line, movement, and even the title influence a piece of art. Five art quilters offered their work for Sandra to critique during the workshop. During the critique session, she gave tips on how to critique your own work. In addition, she encouraged the members to lead critique sessions in their own art quilt communities and guided attendees on how to offer critiques that are positive and motivate the artist to think in new ways.

Thank you Dr. Sider for sharing your time and talents with SAQA Texas. And thanks to the SAQA members who attended.
