The SAQA North Texas Circle met on Saturday at Petit Atelier in the Deep Ellum district of Dallas. 18 fiber artists attended. Not only did we share our news and our latest work, but we also discussed how we either find inspiration or how we start a new project. The differing processes were really fascinating! Some of us sketch, some are inspired by color or pattern and some of us are spurred to create by the leftover bits from previous projects.
Petit Atelier is owned by Mario Gallegos and Michael Crigger, two Dallas based clothing designers. They have very kindly offered their space for our group, providing us with a funky, fabulous and utterly inspiring meeting place.
Our next meeting will be Saturday, April 19, at 1:00 pm, at Petit Atelier. The program will be "The Business Side of Fiber Art: Presenting or Defining Your Brand." Members who wish to share will discuss their approach to marketing both themselves and their art.
