GRAND OPENING: Fine Home by Copper Shade Tree
Thanks bunches to Debbie & Gerald Tobola for taking time out of their very busy schedule this week to talk to our members about showing our work in a gallery. We got lots of great advice on what gallery owners are looking for from the artists they represent, what their customers are looking for, marketing yourself as a fiber artist and best practices for approaching and selecting galleries where you want to show your work.
The Copper Shade Tree is celebrating the grand opening of their new gallery, Fine Home, this weekend and you're invited! Come out and see the beautiful new space which features home furnishings and décor from 15 renowned artists.

July 14 Meeting in Round Top
We're looking forward to seeing you!
Tuesday, July 14 at 10 am
Henkel Hall in Round Top
Henkel Hall is across the square from the Copper Shade Tree Gallery
Guest Speakers
Debbie & Gerald Tobola
Owners of the Copper Shade Tree Gallery
Debbie & Gerald will talk about showing your fiber art in a fine art gallery: what they look for as gallery owners, how to present your work to a gallery/curator, best practices for marketing your self as a working fiber artist and more.
Debbie & Gerald Tobola are the owners of the Copper Shade Tree Gallery and big supporters of the fiber art community. Copper Shade Tree is a fine art & craft destination located in the heart of Round Top, Texas. It displays a delightful collection of decorative fine art and functional crafts, hand crafted by Texas artisans, with a few surprises along the way. In addition, six events are scheduled throughout the year, to showcase a wide range of fine art and craft mediums and disciplines from across the state. Their annual "The Art in Fiber" invitational is one of their showcases. Two-thirds of the artists are from within a 150 mile radius of Round Top. A number of their artists are SAQA members as well as national award winners, many have appeared on various television shows, and many have been published in local, national, and international publications.

Finland's museum features Quilt Visions exhibit and Texas SAQA Member Heather Pregger
The Oulu Museum of Art in Finland is currently exhibiting Quilt Visions --- the most extensive exhibition of modern
American quilt art to date in Northern Europe. In Finland, modern international
quilt art has been exhibited in art museums only seldom.
The exhibition runs through through August 30 and features SAQA Texas member Heather Pregger and eight other artists.
We congratulate Heather on this outstanding opportunity!
Heather even traveled to Finland for the opening ceremony and took these photos.
